Positive Protection in Work Zones Webinar: Subpart K

Subpart K—Temporary Traffic Control Devices was updated in November 2024 with new requirements pertaining to positive protection devices. The most significant change is that agencies are required to use positive protection in all scenarios with high anticipated operating speeds and no means of escape, unless an engineering study determines otherwise. Agencies were required to update their policies accordingly by December 31, 2025. 

This webinar will explore how agencies have addressed the new Subpart K requirements, beginning with a synthesis summary of methods that agencies have used, followed by a few presentations from state agencies walking through their updated positive protection policies and guidelines.
